Numan, Lamurde: PDP tackles SDP in Adamawa rerun
Yola—Adamawa State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP is set to participate in the forthcoming re-run election to be conducted by Independence National Electoral Commission (INEC) in to Numan and Lamurde Federal constituency in the state soon.
State chairman of the party, Chief Joel Madaki, who made the party’s position know during the stakeholders meeting of the party held at the party’s secretariat, said the election will be a litmus test for the party in the state since the failure of the party in the 2015 general elections.
“We are going into this coming re-run election as directed by the court and we are participating with full hope of winning the context,” he pledged
Vanguard learnt that the election of the ousted federal lawmaker from the Green Chambers, Hon. Kwamati Laori was challenged by the PDP candidate from the constituency (Numan/Lamurde) Hon. Mike Zidon, who contested at the election tribunal sitting in Abuja that, Laori’s nomination as the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) was wrongful, faulty and questionable as he did not participate in the SDP primaries as provided by the electoral act.
The election tribunal at the initial stage returned Kwamati Laori of SDP as the winner of the federal seat but federal court of appeal, Abuja quashed its (election tribunal) decision annulling the election of Laori and directing the INEC to conduct fresh election (Re-run) in that constituency in 90 days excluding kwamati Laori and his party SDP in the elections.
Madaki used the forum to urge all the party faithful to work assiduously with the vigor of bringing back the lost glory of the party in the state and nation at large.
“We used to be the ruling party sometimes back and now we are the outstanding opposition which is the attributes of politics, so we must work hard to recapture the minds of Nigerians once again”. he stressed
He however advised Gov. Muhammadu Jibrilla to be focused in providing dividends of democracy as he promised during his campaign.
Madaki said if the Governor derails in that regard then he is exposing politicians to danger with electorate in the State because they no longer trust or take politics seriously.
